Building and trip down by Raft Korbeek-Dijle to Heverlee - SY

Building your own raft and then descending down river with it takes a lot of teamwork. The building of the rafts takes place at The Shelter. The trip down river start in Korbeek-Dijile and ends in Heverlee, just in front of the Arenberg Castle.

Starting point: The Shelter, stationstraat 13, 3060 Korbeek-Dijle

End point: Celestijdenlaan 100,  3001 Heverlee (at the bridge across the Dyle)

At the start of the activity you will receive a brief explanation about the construction of a raft. Together with your team you build your own raft with the material provided and you break it down after departure before returning. You can go with a minimum of 3 participants on a raft. The maximum number of participants per raft can go up to even 10 participants! The activity takes approximately 4 hours. The construction of a raft takes about 1 hour and 30 minutes and the trip down river about 2 hours and 30 minutes and runs over a stretch of 6.5 kilometers. (minimum age 8 years but 10 years is recommended)

How do I return after de trip down river?

It is possible to return to The Shelter by Kickbike, on foot, your own transportation or public transportation. It is not obliged to return to The Shelter afterwards. You can go your own way from the end point.

                Per Kickbike

You can finish your activity on an active note by returning by Kickbbike. You follow the Dyletrail, a unique trail that follow the river Dyle. The trail starts at the end point, where you get out of the canoe, and goes all the way to the shelter. It is 4 kilometers long. It takes about 40minutes by Kickbike. (Minimum age is 8 years)

                On foot

You can walk back to The Shelter following the Dyle trail, a unique trail that follow the river Dyle. The trail starts at the end point, where you get out of the canoe, and goes all the way to the shelter. It is 4 kilometers long. It takes about 1 hour on foot.

                Own transportation

It is possible to take your own transportation back to The Shelter or go to your next destination straight away. You can park you transport in the vicinity of the end point.

                Public transport

It is possible to take public transportation back to The Shelter after the trip down river/trip down river. By train.

Train Ottignies: Heverlee Station(15min by foot from the end point of the trip down river) to Oud- Heverlee station. About 10minutes on the train. Afterwards you will have to walk 900m towards The Shelter from Oud-Heverlee station. You can purchase your tickets beforehand or at the ticket booths in the station. When can I plan this activity?

Individual or in groups smaller than 10 people.

During the season on Saturday and Sunday at 10u, 13u, 16u.

If you would like to book an activity with a group smaller than 10 people during the week this is only possible if there is already a group planned with more than 10 people.

Groups bigger than 10 people

During the weekend at 10u*, 13u, 16u or during the week with starting hour of your choosing.

*10u only possible with reservation!

Building and descending by raft + Kickbike

  • Price per Particpant: € 27,00
  • Groups starting at 20 particpants: € 25,00

- Maximum 30 participants for the return by Kickbike-

Per 10 particpating Kids( -18) an accompaning particpant can take part for free.( ex. 30 Members = 3 accompaning people for free)
