Go down the Demer with a 3-person canoe with a minimum of 2 people and a maximum of 3 people. The trip takes about 2 hours and 30 minutes for a trip of 14 kilometers. (minimum age 10 years old but in case of large groups 12 years old is recommended)
How do I return after the trip?
Returning from Aarschot to Zichem is possible with your own transport or public transport. It is not obligatory to return to the start location. It is possible to return directly to your own destination after arrival at the endpoint with your own transport.
It is possible to take your own transportation back to the start location or to return directly to your own destination after arrival at the endpoint.
It is possible to return by public transportation to Zichem after the trip. The return can be done by train or bus.
Train Hasselt: Aarschot Station (15 minutes on foot) to Zichem Station takes about 14 minutes. After the trainride you'll have to walk about 11 minutes to the start location at De Hemmekes.
Bus 36 direction Scherpenheuvel: Walk 150 meters to the bus stop Aarschot Demervallei and take the bus to the Zichem Kerk stop (takes about 30 minutes).
