Canoe Dijle from Korbeek-Dijle to Heverlee

Come and enjoy the beautiful surroundings in the middle of the Dijle valley, located in the Brabantse Wouden. The descent by canoe on the Dijle starts in Korbeek-Dijle and ends in Heverlee, just before the castle of Arenberg.

STARTING POINT: The Shelter, Stationsstraat 13, 3060 Korbeek-Dijle

END POINT: Celestijnenlaan 100, 3001 Heverlee (at the bridge over the Dijle)

You will sail down in a three-seater canoe for a minimum of 2 and a maximum of 3 participants. The trip takes about 1 hour and 30 minutes and covers a distance of 6.5 kilometers. (minimum age 6 years)

Returning from Heverlee to The Shelter is possible by Kickbike, on foot, with your own transport or public transport. It is certainly not mandatory to return, you can go your own way from the end point.

By Kickbike:

You can end your activity in a sporty way by returning with a Kickbike. This via the Dijlepad, a unique route along the Dijle. The path starts at the drop-off point and runs to The Shelter over a distance of approximately 4 kilometers. By Kickbike it takes you approximately 40 minutes. (minimum age 8 years)

On foot:

You can walk back to The Shelter along the Dijlepad, a unique route along the Dijle. The path starts at the drop-off point and runs to The Shelter over a distance of approximately 4 kilometers. On foot it takes about 1 hour.

The Dijle meanders and continues into the fields, the return on foot is more in a straight line and therefore a lot shorter than the descent on the Dijle.

By own transport:

After the departure it is possible to return to The Shelter with your own transport or go directly to your own destination. Parking your vehicle is possible near the end point.

By public transport:

After departure it is possible to return to The Shelter by public transport. This by train.

Train Ottignies: Heverlee station (15 minutes on foot from the arrival) to Oud-Heverlee station takes about 10 minutes. After that, another 900 meters walk to The Shelter from Oud-Heverlee station. Tickets for the train can be purchased in advance or at the ticket machines in the station. More information on the NMBS website.
