Vikingtrip from Korbeek-Dyle to Heverlee
Trip down river the river like real Vikings use to do it. You are seated in a 3-seater canoe and start in Korbeek- Dijle and end in Heverlee., just in front of Arenberg Castle.
Starting point: The Shelter, stationstraat 13, 3060 Korbeek-Dijle
End point: Celestijdenlaan 100, 3001 Heverlee (at the bridge across the Dyle)
We will take you back to the time of the Vikings. You will trip down river in a Vikingoutfit in a 3-seater canoe. Minimum 2 people and maximum 3 people per canoe. At the start of the trip we will talk about the Vikings and their legends. After the trip you will be awaited with a real Viking drink and snack. The trip takes about 1 hour and 30 minutes and runs over a 6.5 km route. (Minimum age is 6 years)
How do I return after de trip down river?
It is possible to return to The Shelter by Kickbike, on foot, your own transportation or public transportation. It is not obliged to return to The Shelter afterwards. You can go your own way from the end point.
You can finish your activity on an active note by returning by Kickbbike. You follow the Dyletrail, a unique trail that follow the river Dyle. The trail starts at the end point, where you get out of the canoe, and goes all the way to the shelter. It is 4 kilometers long. It takes about 40minutes by Kickbike. (Minimum age is 8 years)
You can walk back to The Shelter following the Dyle trail, a unique trail that follow the river Dyle. The trail starts at the end point, where you get out of the canoe, and goes all the way to the shelter. It is 4 kilometers long. It takes about 1 hour on foot.
It is possible to take your own transportation back to The Shelter or go to your next destination straight away. You can park you transport in the vicinity of the end point.
It is possible to take public transportation back to The Shelter after the trip down river/trip down river. By train.
Train Ottignies: Heverlee Station(15min by foot from the end point of the trip down river) to Oud- Heverlee station. About 10minutes on the train. Afterwards you will have to walk 900m towards The Shelter from Oud-Heverlee station. You can purchase your tickets beforehand or at the ticket booths in the station. When can I plan this activity?
Attention: During our closing for winter it is possible to book an activity if you would like to make a reservation for the 2019 season!
Individual or in groups smaller than 10 people.
During the season on Saturday and Sunday at 10u, 13u, 16u.
If you would like to book an activity with a group smaller than 10 people during the week this is only possible if there is already a group planned with more than 10 people.
Groups bigger than 10 people
During the weekend at 10u*, 13u, 16u or during the week with starting hour of your choosing.
*10u only possible with reservation!

groups of 10 people and more: € 25,00

Are you, one of your friends or family members unable to attend the activity because of illness or
unforeseen circumstances? It can happen to anybody!
Starting from this season The Shelter offers REIMBURSEMENT in the absence of participants on the day of the activity at no extra cost!
No-Show guarantee: Reimbursement up to 10% of the amount of participants.
Ex. A group of 10 participants, where one of the participants is unable to attend. In this case the paid amount for the participant will be reimbursed.
