Building your own raft and then descending the Dyle takes a lot of teamwork. The building of the rafts takes place at The Shelter. The trip start in Korbeek-Dijle and ends in Heverlee, just before the Arenberg Castle.

START LOCATION: The Shelter, Stationsstraat 13, 3060 Korbeek-Dijle

END LOCATION: Celestijnenlaan 100, 3001 Heverlee (at the bridge across the Dyle)

At the start of the activity you will receive an explanation about the construction of a raft. Together with your team you will build your own raft with the material provided and you break it down after the trip. Go down the Dyle by raft with a minimum of 4 people. The maximum number of participants per raft can go up to even 10 participants! The activity takes approximately 4 hours. The construction takes about 1 hour and 30 minutes and the trip about 2 hours and 30 minutes for a trip of 6,5 kilometers. (minimum age 8 years old but 10 years old is recommended)

How do I return after the trip?

It is possible to return to The Shelter by Kickbike, on foot, your own transportation or public transportation. It is not obligatory to return to The Shelter.  It is possible to return directly to your own destination after arrival at the endpoint with your own transport. 

Per Kickbike:

You can end your activity on an active note by returning by Kickbike. You follow the Dyle-trail, a unique trail that follows the Dyle. The trail starts at the end location in Heverlee and goes all the way to The Shelter. The trail is 4 kilometers and takes about 40 minutes by Kickbike. (minimum age 8 years old)

On foot:

You can walk back to The Shelter following the Dyle-trail, a unique trail that follows the Dyle. The trail starts at the end location in Heverlee and goes all the way to The Shelter. The trail is 4 kilometers and takes about 1 hour on foot.

Own transportation:

It is possible to take your own transportation back to The Shelter or to return directly to your own destination after arrival at the endpoint.

Public transportation: 

It is possible to return by public transportation to The Shelter after the trip. The return can be done by train. 

Train Ottignies: From Heverlee station (15min by foot from the end location) to Oud-Heverlee station. The ride takes about 10 minutes. Afterwards you will have to walk 900m to The Shelter from Oud-Heverlee station. You can purchase your tickets beforehand or at the ticket booths in the station. When can I plan this activity?

Groups from 4 people:

On Saturday at 10h30*

During Summer holidays (1 July to 31 August) on Wednesday, Friday or Saturday at 10h30*

We're closed on Mondays during Summer holidays.

Groups from 10 people:

On Wednesday, Saturday and on official holidays (see info above) or during weekdays (outside summer holidays) with free choice of starting time if our planning allows it (customized activity)*  

*ATTENTION: this activity must be booked at least 48 hours in advance!

Building & trip by raft + Kickbike:

No-Show Guarantee

Are you, one of your friends or family members unable to attend the activity because of illness or unforeseen circumstances? It can happen to anybody!

The Shelter offers a REFUND in the absence of participants on the day of the activity at no extra cost!

No-Show Guarantee: Refund up to 10% of the number of participants.

Ex. A group of 10 participants, with one of the participants unable to attend. In this case the paid amount for the activity of the absent participant will be refunded.
