Descending the river through the centre of Leuven, a unique chance to see the city in a different way. The departure starts in Heverlee and ends in Wilsele.

START POINT: Celestijnenlaan (100), 3001 Heverlee (Bridge across the Dyle)

END POINT: Kolonel Begaultlaan, 3012 Wilsele

You can trip down river per 2-seater canoe for a minimum of 2 participants (with children it is possible for 3 participants). The trip takes approximately 2 hours and  minutes and runs over a 8 kilometre route. The departure is always accompanied by a guide(minimum age 6 years but 8 years is recommended)

How do I return after departure?

Returning from Wilsele to Heverlee is possible with your own transport or public transport. It is certainly not mandatory to return, you can go your own way from the end point.

With own transport:

After departure, it is possible to return to The Shelter with your own provided transportation or to go directly to your own destination. Park your vehicule in the vicinity of the viaduct. (You can’t park everywhere for free).

With public transport:

After departure, it is possible to return to Heverlee or The Shelter by public transport.

Bus 630 going to Remy-Haasrode: starting halte Wilsele - Ecowerf untill Leuven Station (5 min). Afterwards connection by train or bus.

Train towards Ottignies: Leuven Station (20 minutes on foot or by bus to the station) to Oud-Heverlee Station takes about 15 minutes. Then walk another 900 meters to The Shelter from the station of Oud-Heverlee. Tickets for the train can be purchased in advance or at ticket machines or counters in the station. Bus 395 towards Hoeilaart: At the Dirk Boutslaan stop (50 meters from the finish) until the Kosterberg stop in Korbeek-Dijle takes approximately 25 minutes. Then walk another 500 meters to The Shelter from the stop. Tickets can be purchased in advance or on the spot. More information on the De Lijn website.

When can I plan this activity?

Attention: During our closing for winter it is possible to book an activity if you would like to make a reservation for  the 2019 season!

Individual or Groups of 10 participants:

During the weekend at 10 am, 1 pm or 4 pm or during the week with free choice for the starting time. *

In this case a fixed amount is requested for the organization of the departure.


DIJLE DAY: every 2nd Saturday of the month it is possible to sail the Dyle individually or with a small group. Every route is possible!

Planned Dyle days in 2019: 11/05 - 08/06 - 13/07 - 10/08 - 14/09


Departure 10 am: Korbeek-Dijle - Leuven (+/- 2h30)

Departure 11.30 am: Heverlee - Leuven (+/- 1 hour) or Heverlee - Wilsele (+/- 2 hours)

Groups with more than 10 participants:

During the weekend at 10 am, 1 pm or 4 pm. or during the week with free choice for the starting time. *

* ATTENTION: This activity must always be reserved at least 24 hours in advance!



Price per group (< 10people): € 220,00
groups of 10 people and more: € 22,00

No-show guarantee

Are you, one of your friends or family members unable to attend the activity because of illness or

unforeseen circumstances? It can happen to anybody!

Starting from this season The Shelter offers REIMBURSEMENT in the absence of participants on the day of the activity at no extra cost!

No-Show guarantee: Reimbursement up to 10% of the amount of participants.

Ex. A group of 10 participants, where one of the participants is unable to attend. In this case the paid amount for the participant will be reimbursed.
